Get Certified.

MWBE certification can open doors to your company as you explore opportunities to do business with government agencies and authorities. The MWBE program is designed to assist the growth and development of businesses owned and controlled by women and minorities.

Why should you seek certification as a minority or women-owned business enterprise (MWBE)?

Once certified, a company is officially recognized by all State agencies and most public authorities as a bona fide MWBE. Certified MWBEs are listed in the State Directory of Certified Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprises. The Directory is used by State agencies, public authorities, federal agencies and corporations to find contractors and sub-contractors for procurement opportunities.

There are numerous opportunities for Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs) in each State. DBEs are eligible for contract opportunities on projects that receive federal funding. If your firm is currently certified as a DBE from anywhere in the country and meets certain criteria, you may use the Fast Track Application and Release of Information forms to become a New York State certified MWBE.

To qualify for State certification as an MWBE, an applicant must successfully meet the criteria set out by your individual state.
